Getting to Fushimi Inari in brief
The shrine is in Fukakusa in Fushimi Ward, Kyoto, at 68 Fukakusa Yabunouchi-cho, Fushimi-ku, Kyoto 612-0882. Two railways stop nearby, and they are different stations: JR Inari on the JR Nara Line, and Fushimi-Inari on the Keihan Main Line. Do not mix them up when you read a timetable.
From Kyoto Station the JR route is the simplest. It is two stops and about 5 minutes, and the station is directly in front of the shrine entrance. A bus and a car are possible too, but the shrine itself advises public transport because the parking areas are often full.

Kyoto tours and day trips
Guided visits to Fushimi Inari and trips around Kyoto, with live prices and availability.
By JR from Kyoto Station
Nara Line, two stops, one fare.
Take the JR Nara Line from Kyoto Station to JR Inari. The trip is two stops, about 5 minutes. The fare is about JPY 150 one way in 2026. Local trains stop at Inari. Some rapid trains also stop there, with a journey time of around 9 minutes, but that varies, so check on the display or timetable that your train stops at Inari before you board.
Outside the station, stands and shops line the way to the shrine. A base near Kyoto Station keeps the ride short, see where to stay.

By Keihan from Gion and Tofukuji
A different station, a short walk.
The Keihan Main Line stops at Fushimi-Inari, about 5 minutes on foot from the shrine, heading east. From Gion-Shijo the fare is JPY 240 one way, and from Tofukuji JPY 180. Limited Express trains do not stop at Fushimi-Inari, so take a slower service.
This route suits a day that combines the shrine with Tofukuji or an evening in Gion. It is also the Keihan line that runs from Osaka, see the section below.

By bus and by car
Possible, but slower and less predictable.
Take city bus Minami 5 to the Inari Taisha-mae stop, then walk about 7 minutes east to the shrine. Travel times vary with traffic.
For drivers, the shrine's own estimate is about 20 minutes from Kyoto Minami IC and about 10 minutes from Kamitoba. Parking is for shrine visitors only, Space is not guaranteed, and the shrine recommends public transport because the parking areas fill up.
From Osaka
The short version; the long one is on its own page.
From Yodoyabashi the Keihan fare to Fushimi-Inari is JPY 480 one way. Alternatively, the JR Special Rapid from Osaka Station to Kyoto takes about 30 minutes, and then you change to the Nara Line for JR Inari. Osaka Station and Shin-Osaka are different starting points. Details and options are on the Osaka page.
Whatever the route, the last train matters if you stay late. Open grounds do not extend the rail timetable, see the night page.
